Susan Banahan
Associate Director, Ocean Leadership Ocean Observing Programs (Leg 1)
Susan joined the Consortium for Ocean Leadership (JOI division) in August 2006. She previously worked for the NOAA Coastal Ocean Program, where she managed research projects on the topics of harmful algal blooms and the impacts of multiple stressors to coastal ecosystems.
Before joining NOAA in 1992, she was a senior research assistant at the University of Maryland’s Horn Point Laboratory and research associate at Texas A & M University. Her research experience is in nutrient cycling and phytoplankton growth, radionuclide geochemistry, and the biogeochemistry of silica. She has a M.S. in chemical oceanography from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
