Hugo Solís García (1976, México City) is a New Media artist that works in Seattle and Mexico City. He is currently finishing a PhD at the Center for Digital Arts and Experimental media (DXARTS), University of Washington. His main field is the creation of interactive works where the active participation of the observer is fundamental to complete the work. The use of sound is also a key element on his work complemented with video, image, or kinetic sculpture.Currently he works on creation of sonic site-specific journeys using digital and computational tools. He also develops interactive and multimedia sound installations using antique acoustic pianos extended with sensors, solenoids, and computers.He holds a DEA of Computer Sciences and Digital Communication from the Pompeu Fabra Univeristy, a Masters degree in Media Arts and Sciences from the MIT Media Laboratory, and a Bachelor in Piano performance form the Escuela Nacional de Música of the UNAM in Mexico City. He also studied computer music at NYU.He has received grants, prices and awards from FONCA, UNAM, TELMEX, MIT, UW, IMEB among others. For details of his work please visit www.HugoSolis.net
