Dara Scott
Jason
Dara has a degree in Physics from the National University of Ireland Galway and worked in the medical diagnostic field for a number of years before joining the Jason team seven years ago. He specialises in sub sea navigation the key objective of which is to know at all times where the ROV is. This is important not only for the scientists who need to know exactly where Jason is for their data but also to avoid potential hazards like geological structures or moorings. The navigation is performed by Ultra Short Base Line (USBL), Long Base Line (LBL) and Doppler. He also takes control of the ships dynamic position system and drives the ship to ensure that it follows Jason. He also pilots the ROV. When not out at sea Dara is an avid beekeeper and has recently started a business developing a treatment for a key disease of the honey bee.
