Derek Brady

Student, UW (Leg 1)

Derek Brady is a Junior at the UW in the School of Aquatic sciences and Fisheries (SAFS) with an emphasis on Marine Biology. He has just recently begun his studies again having spent the last 5 years with the USAF. While with the USAF he had the opportunity to participate in Operation Deep Freeze which resupplied the scientific research base McMurdo Station in Antarctica. He has always been fascinated with the ocean being what he considers the “last frontier” of exploration due to how little is known and understood about the oceanic environment, the biology, and the major impacts it has on the earth. His interests are hiking, camping, fishing and almost anything that involves being outdoors. During the expedition he plans to further his understanding of the techniques and tools used by scientist to study the ocean.
