A hydrophone depolyed near the summit of the 380°C black smoker chimney 'Sully' measures, for the first time, the sound of black smokers 2200 m (7000 feet) beneath the oceans surface. A temperature-chlorinity sensor awaits deployment at the side of the chimney.
