Wes Gustafson is a field engineer on the RSN project. He started his extensive career in engineering at Avantek, Inc. as an electronics technician and test engineer from 1977 to 1994. While working at the microwave components and systems company in Santa Clara, CA, he tested and repaired microwave oscillators and RF test equipment, and designed, developed, and implemented computer-driven automated test stations used for the testing of microwave components.
Since then he has worked for Teledyne Microwave as a test engineer, SeaMed Corporation as a manufacturing engineering technician, and WavTrace as a senior hardware technician. He also worked for Honeywell as an electronic RF technician, testing a weather radar system and “black box” flight recorder, and EMI lab testing RF interference and lightning effects for avionics equipment. Before coming to APL-UW he was a technician at AR Modular RF repairing high-power RF amplifiers.
