From Cecile Durand on RSN cable route survey cruise
Our primary survey tool in shallow water (<1500 m), the C3D, has not been working. We’re waiting for a spare part to be delivered offshore by the Pacific Rebel fishing boat, and are hoping this part will solve all the problem.
In the meantime, to take advantage of the good but narrow weather window, we have decided to survey using the backup system (AMS60). The towfish is being prepared for launching. We are all anxious to start collecting data.
Launching of the AMS60 will not occur before very, very early on April 10… winch and beacon problems…. The survey will start around 4 am! It will be a long day.
Video shows the back deck with the AMS60 (center) and the C3D (portside) towfish.
