Steve Knudsen comes to the OOI RSN Team with a degree from the UW and a background in practical marine engineering and mechanical design engineering. Projects he has worked on include the development of a low-cost delivery system for drinking water purification for third world countries and the design of a high-resolution flow cell cytometer. Before he completed his degree, Steve spent 10 years working as an engineer/mate on oceangoing tugs, fishing tenders, and other vessels traveling between Puget Sound, Alaska, and other ports along the U.S. and Mexican coastline. Steve is currently designing a complex sensor probe for the RSN that profiles a column of water without creating turbulence that would degrade the data collection.
